What is the difference between Antifrogen L and Antifrogen N?
Antifrogen L is based on food-grade propylene glycol and is ideal for sensitive environments such as food and pharmaceutical applications. Antifrogen N, based on ethylene glycol, provides higher thermal efficiency and is commonly used in industrial and HVAC systems where toxicity is not a concern.
Are Clariant Antifrogen coolants safe for food or pharmaceutical applications?
Yes, Antifrogen L is food-safe and produced with FDA-listed ingredients, making it suitable for food and pharmaceutical systems. Antifrogen N is not intended for applications involving direct food contact.
What freeze protection levels can be achieved with Clariant Antifrogen?
Freeze protection depends on concentration:
Antifrogen L at 40% protects to approx. –22 °C;
Antifrogen N at 40% protects to approx. –25 °C.
Higher concentrations increase freeze resistance but should not exceed 60%.
